Vehicle Scam

Scam by JC brothers

They are Alleged to have 66 rejected Bharat Standard (BS) III vehicles wrongfully enrolled and carried them to Anantapur from Kohima in Nagaland and sold them as BS-IV compliant.

Difference between BS III and BS IV

The difference between these two engines mainly lie in their exhaust systems. Regulations restrict evaporation emissions from fuel tanks, which mean a new breather value and additional or changed stamps in the body structure or additional brackets that hold these new systems. This is very difficult to retrofit considering the fact that major design changes might be needed.
BS IV engines require a larger catalytic converter to nullify the harmful nitrogen based gases and most bikes also need a secondary airflow system that adds oxygen (or natural air) to the exhaust stream just before the catalytic converters. But it is difficult to retrofit. Many manufacturers are adapting to the ECU (Electronic control unit) and ignition control setup which helps in clean burns and cause less pollution.
BS IV engines are also slightly different from the BS III ones right from the air intake to the exhaust, therefore, a BS III engine running on BS IV fuel will continue to pollute as usual.

Who is J.C. Prabhakar Reddy?

J. C. Diwakar Reddy is a politician from Andhra Pradesh. He won the Anantapur seat in the 2014 Indian general election as a Telugu Desam Party candidate
Reddy has been elected 6 times to the State Assembly from the Tadipatri constituency in the Anantapur district. He was denied entry into the cabinet in 2009 and also later in N. Kiran Kumar Reddy’s ministry in 2010. He served as Pro tem Speaker in 2011

The Report

  1. J.C. Diwakar Reddy’s brother J.C. Prabhakar Reddy’s family are Alleged to have 66 rejected Bharat Standard (BS) III vehicles wrongfully enrolled and carried them to Anantapur from Kohima in Nagaland and sold them as BS-IV compliant.
  1. The Andhra Pradesh Transport Department has declared that it has uncovered a significant trick by previous Anantapur MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy's sibling J.C. Prabhakar Reddy's family. They were affirmed to have Bharat Standard (BS) III vehicles wrongfully enlisted and carried them to Anantapur from Kohima in Nagaland
  1. Joint Commissioner Transport S.A.V. Prasad Rao (Road Safety) at a press conference here on Saturday said a case was filed in Anantapur I Town Police Station on Saturday with regard to 66 trucks plying in Anantapur and Kadapa districts, that were not BS-IV compliant. The BS-III vehicles were illegally registered in Kohima (Nagaland) and transferred to Tadipatri within two to 15 days with an NOC (No Objection Certificate) from Nagaland.

Driving Fraud:
Following an objection got by the Office, it led its own examination by sending officials to Kohima and discovered some 'shocking' details. At the point when the Office officials digged out the perpetual and brief locations of the people/organizations that got them enrolled there, they discovered details with ensured duplicates of the first records submitted at the hour of enlistment in August - September 2018, identified with six lorries (160 bhp limit, 10, 12 and 14 wheelers), which were purportedly purchased from Hosur and Uttarakhand sellers of Ashok Leyland.

Family association

Marks on the enlistment records related to J.C. Prabhakar Reddy's better half J.C. Uma Reddy and C. Gopal Reddy speaking to C. Gopal Reddy and Friends and Jatadhara Businesses Private Restricted, with central station at Tadipatri. These vehicles (NL01AC - 1087, 1077, 3680, 3676, 3679 and 1066) were carried to Anantapur with NOCs from Kohima inside 15 days of enlistment and re-enrolled in Andhra Pradesh at different occasions.

Every one of these vehicles allegedly employ in Tadipatri and Kadapa districts to convey products identified with concrete processing plants. Anantapur Delegate Transport Chief N. Sivaram Prasad held up the grumbling with the police looking for a test against producers, sellers or the purchasers to discover who was basically answerable for the supposed misrepresentation.

Giving details of the case, Mr. Prasad Rao said: “As per the Supreme Court directive, from April 1, 2017, BS-III vehicles were not to be registered and 50 per cent less polluting BS-IV vehicles only registered. But C. Gopal Reddy and Company and Jatadhara Industries Private Limited, with permanent address at Tadipatri got 66 of them registered as BS-IV vehicles and sold them to several people after bringing them to Anantapur, thus selling BS-III scrap as BS-IV original vehicles.”

Scam could be greater

The size of the trick uncovered so far will be dictated by the Police Office and the Mr. Prasad Rao doesn't preclude progressively number of such vehicles handling in the nation.

This illicit strategy could be another potential peril in the coming months when BS-VI discharge standards become mandatory from April 1 everywhere throughout the nation for enlistment of new vehicles, authorities call attention to.
